Rally in the Heart of Lakota Treaty Land

Rapid City

February 11, 2012

During the President’s remarks at the University of Colorado Auraria Campus, the Oglala Lakota Vice President interrupted him to voice the concerns of the People.  Individuals accompanying VP Poor Bear raised an anti-KXL banner while the VP directed Obama to “say no to the Keystone XL pipeline,” and to “protect mother earth, protect our children and future generations.”  Before the group was removed by Secret Service, Obama thanked VP Poor Bear and stated “I know your deep concern about it, so we will address it.”  Less than a month later, the Secretary of State announced that a decision on the pipeline would be delayed to allow for further studies.
