In the spirit of peace and friendship, representatives and leaders from sovereign indigenous nations, Native organizations, non-Native ranchers and landowners, and environmental organizations gathered to create alliances and strategies to stop the proposed Keystone XL pipeline and all forms of devastation caused by tar sands extraction.  Information can be found on the Protect the Sacred website here.

The efforts leading up to the gathering and continuing throughout the event culminated in the signing of a Treaty among indigenous nations and a Pledge of Support, promising mutual support and assistance in the defense and protection of sacred land and water against tar sands projects.  The text of the Treaty can be found on the Protect the Sacred website here.
